Having reached their 40s Handan and Korhan live a humdrum life in an upper scale neighbourhood in Istanbul. Handan tries to keep herself occupied, relentlessly trying on new pastimes, counting on Korhan´s support for each one. Korhan, on the other hand, having witnessed too many of her whims, has learnt not to make much of them. Failing to get any support or attention from her husband, she takes up writing in order to fill her void, which she imitates from her author friend Sermin. Her aspiration quickly turns into jealousy, disrupting the dynamics between the two families.

The paths of these two women may be different, but their companionship is enduring as they cling to disparate dreams.

Queen of the Desert is a 2015 American epic biographical drama film written and directed by Werner Herzog and is based on the life of British traveller, writer, archaeologist, explorer, cartographer and political officer Gertrude Bell. The film follows Bell's life chronologically, from her early twenties till her death. It is Herzog's first feature film in six years after his 2009 film My Son, My Son, What Have Ye Done?.
The film stars Nicole Kidman, James Franco, Damian Lewis and Robert Pattinson. After going through many delays and casting problems, production finally took place from December 2013 to March 2014 in Morocco, Jordan and England. It was screened in the main competition section of the 65th Berlin International Film Festival and had its premiere on 6 February 2015.It had a theatrical release in Germany on 3 September 2015.
The film chronicles the events of Gertrude Bell's life, a British explorer, traveller, archaeologist and political officer.

The Sogdian language was an Eastern Iranian language spoken in the Central Asian region of Sogdia, located in modern-day Uzbekistan, and Tajikistan (capital: Samarkand; other chief cities: Panjakent, Fergana, Khujand and Bukhara), as well as some Sogdian immigrant communities in ancient China. Sogdian is one of the most important Middle Iranian languages, along with Bactrian, Khotanese Saka, Middle Persian and Parthian.
It possesses a large literary corpus. The Sogdian language is usually assigned to a Northeastern group of the Iranian languages, although this is a Sprachbund rather than a genetic group. No direct evidence of an earlier version of the language ("Old Sogdian") has been found, although mention of the area in the Old Persian inscriptions means that a separate and recognisable Sogdia existed at least since the Achaemenid Empire (559-323 BCE).
Like Khotanese, Sogdian possesses a more conservative grammar and morphology than Middle Persian. The modern Eastern Iranian language Yaghnobi is the descendant of a dialect of Sogdian spoken around the 8th century in Ustrashana, a region to the south of Sogdia.During Tang China (ca. 7th century CE), the Silk Road's lingua franca in Central Asia was Sogdian.along which it amassed a rich vocabulary by loanwords such as tym ("hotel") from the Middle Chinese /tem/ (Chinese: 店).
The economic and political importance of Sogdian guaranteed its survival in the first few centuries after the Muslim conquest of Sogdia in the early eighth century. A dialect of Sogdian spoken around the 8th century in Ustrashana (capital: Bunjikat, near present-day Istaravshan, Tajikistan), a region to the south of Sogdia, developed into Yaghnobi language and has survived into the 21st century. Mavi Boncuk | The several Sogdian principalities, mostly small, were formed in antiquity, and some minted their own coinage. Many were at least nominally subject to Samarkand, but their situation would change with each new "super power" that exerted control over the area. For a time, for example the Turkish khagans on the steppes supported the Sogdian rulers, protected Sogdian trade, and employed Sogdians as officials and diplomats.

Turkish Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoglu's May 5 resignation at the request of President Recep Tayyip Erdogan is a further consolidation of power in the hands of a man who is already the most powerful politician in Turkey since the country became a multiparty democracy in 1950. Erdogan has ruled since 2003, first as prime minister and head of the ruling Justice and Development Party (AKP) and then as president, a constitutionally non-partisan office in Turkey's parliamentary system. When Erdogan became president in 2014, Davutoglu took over as AKP chair and became the country's new prime minister. Davutoglu had risen in politics as Erdogan's chief adviser, finally becoming Erdogan's foreign minister in 2009. The two men were colleagues in conceiving and executing Turkey's foreign policy pivot to the Middle East. Accordingly, when Erdogan offered Davutoglu the prime minister position that was sure to be somewhat neutered, Davutoglu happily obliged.
To the extent that Davutoglu was a compliant partner of Erdogan, for instance, working closely with him on Syria, where the two have tried for years to oust the Bashar al-Assad regime, Davutoglu never completely satisfied Erdogan. This is because Davutoglu is a household name both in Turkey and overseas, which irked Erdogan, who seeks to consolidate and personalize political power. Erdogan was reportedly upset, for instance, when Davutoglu wanted to visit Washington to meet with President Barack Obama only weeks after the Turkish president himself had visited Washington in March 2016 to do the same.
Having now fallen from grace, Davutoglu is likely to become a quiet observer of Turkish politics, following the path of previous cast-off AKP officials, including former President Abdullah Gul, who have chosen not to confront Erdogan after he ejected them from the AKP leadership. For his part, Erdogan is set to pick a new, more compliant politician as AKP chair at the party's May 22 convention. This person will then take office as the country's new prime minister, and after some months, few will even recall the name of the new leader, much like in Jordan or Morocco, where all-powerful kings overshadow little-known prime ministers...

Turkey stands out as a real growth market among the other - mostly mature - European markets, where admissions have been stagnating or even declining over the past ten years as GBO growth was driven primarily by increasing ticket prices linked to 3D and digital cinema.In contrast, Turkey has been registering a remarkable growth trend with admissions more than doubling from 24.6 million in 2003 to 50.4 million in 2013. This represents an average annual growth rate of 7.4% per year and compares to an average annual decline of -0.6% in the EU. Turkish GBO even grew by 15.4% per year on average, compared to 1.6% in the EU. Only the Russian Federation has registered higher growth rates and growth in volume over the past years.
Turkish box office growth has been largely driven by a growing number of extremely successful local blockbusters regularly selling up to 4 million tickets. Box office growth was also stimulated by the enlargement and modernisation of Turkey’s screen base as a large number of modern cinema complexes were opened in the mushrooming number of newly constructed shopping malls over the past decade.
With a population of 76 million, a comparatively low cinema going rate and a growing economy, the Turkish theatrical market is believed to keep growing by 6% to 7% per year before reaching maturity in 2018.

As Turkish cinema celebrates its 100th anniversary, the Turkish film industry looks back at a dynamic and eventful history. Today, Turkey is firmly established as the 2nd largest European theatrical growth market and the 7th largest theatrical market in terms of admissions, only superseded by the ‘big 5’ EU markets and the Russian Federation. The Turkish film market also stands out in the pan-European landscape as the only market where national films regularly outperform US films.
The Observatory’s report is probably the most comprehensive market analysis of the Turkish film industry available in the English language. It provides a sound overview of the development and current trends in:

Bekir is a tradesman who runs his own business in Istanbul. As soon as he arrives in the village, he goes hunting in the woods. But hunting season has not started yet, and the villagers are scared that off-season hunting might bring bad luck. To top it, when Bekir arrives lots of misfortunes begin to happen. The villagers think that all these misfortunes begin after Bekir´s arrival. Bekir keeps hunting without giving any thought to the birds he shoots or the trouble it would cause him. With every sound of gunshot, the villagers look towards the woods and wait for the return of one who hunts.

Even the weakest wind can trigger a stormy atmosphere in families. There are always unopened discussions, secrets no one would reveal to each other and some topics always kept in the dark. They whisper but await on the sly as a messenger of a big storm. There are countless of these messengers for Rıza Gülsoy and his family. However, Rıza, the Emperor, still believes in the fortress of his family. During The Feast of the Sacrifice, all the family–sons, daughters, granddaughters, relatives–gather at the country house of Rıza Gülsoy. They celebrate the holiday while they share the good memories, dine, drink, sing, and dance. Horror starts when one of the granddaughters of Rıza, suddenly disappears. This ruins the festive spirit. Every member of the family is haunted by the thought of her being kidnapped. The relief comes when the granddaughter is found but some secrets are already revealed. There is no turning back.

As animals inhabiting streets Shero and his friends are after what anyone else in their notoriously sleazy Istanbul neighborhood wants: debauchery with girls, food, and the occasional drinking binge. When their paths cross with humans though, things get a little out of hand in hilarious, harsh and unexpected ways. The film opens as Shero, Rıfkı the Seagull and Rıza the Rat are getting ready for a barbeque night. This ordinary looking day will prove otherwise as Shero causes the accidental death of a prospect lover, gets chased to death by his enemies, falls in love, finds out that he is father to a son only to deny him and all these small mishaps upset the grand plans for the night.

Once upon a time, a four-child family lives in peace and quiet in a mountain village. Their peaceful life shatters when they find out that the mother has contracted tuberculosis. The mother believes that she will pass away in a short period of time. Because of this saddening fact, she has her husband marry an infertile woman, considering her children´s future. Six months pass and she beats the disease. That´s when two wives start to live together...
