Devlet Ana is a historical novel, one of the most important works of Kemal Tahir, one of the important writers of Turkish literature, published in 1967. It deals with the expansion of the principality towards the west by Ertuğrul Bey and the events in the process regarding the purpose and how the Ottoman State was established.
With this novel, Kemal Tahir tries to explain that the economic, social and religious institutions of the West are different from the institutions of Turkish culture and therefore do not match.

Kemal Tahir's novel (1967)
• The novel, which summarizes its thesis on the first page with Nazım Pasha's line "We are Ottomans, we have many people", takes its name from the name of one of the characters, Devlet Hatun, and turns into an epic story of how Ertuğrul, Osman, and Orhan Beys laid the foundations of the Ottoman State on the Bithynia tip of the collapsed and collapsing Anatolian Seljuk State: Devlet Hatun, after becoming the head of the Rum Bacıları, became Bacı Bey and used all her power to help the Ottomans cross the Derin Geçit. The 623-page novel, which is divided into four parts as:

tells the story of the germination and sprouting years of the Osmanoğulları; the disintegration of the Seljuks in Konya and the fusion of the Byzantine border; warrior dervishes, trickster monks, Notüs
Gladyüs, the knights of Sen-jan, the tekfür kızı who became Nilüfer Hatun when she became the wife of Orhan Gazi, Lotus, Şeyh Edebali, Yunus Emre... and the melting of adventure, love, faith, history and fairy tales in the crucible are put into writing.
• The work, which won the Turkish Language Association 1968 Novel Award, also gained fame by being a subject of discussion in our literary world.
Mehmet Şeyda's book Türk Komanı (1969) is a panel discussion minutes organized on the positive and negative echoes of the novel Devlet Ana.
Devlet Ana, Türk edebiyatının önemli yazarlarından Kemal Tahir'in, 1967 yılında yayımladığı en önemli eserlerinden olan, bir tarihi romandır. Ertuğrul Bey'den, Osman Bey'in batıya doğru beyliği genişletmesini ve Osmanlı Devleti'nin hangi amaçla ve nasıl kurulduğu ile ilgili süreçteki olayları konu edinir.
Kemal Tahir, bu romanıyla Batı'nın iktisadi, sosyal ve inanç kurumlarının Türk kültürünün sahip olduğu kurumlardan farklı yapıda olduğunu ve bu sebeple uyuşmadığını anlatmaya çalışır.
